Cycling

Cycling is a great way to explore the backroads and mountain trails of our world and should appeal to anyone with reasonable level of fitness. As with walking holidays you’ll come back mentally relaxed and physically fit but with more ground covered.

Between them, the various travel companies offering cycle and mountain biking have most of the world covered. The great mountain ranges provide adrenalin junkies with plenty of opportunities with the Himalaya and Morocco’s Atlas mountains being popular choices. For social cycling you might consider Vietnam or Laos - or for a challenge take the high road from Kathmandu to Lhasa. Most trips allow you the choice of taking your own bike or hiring one - and most are group activities because of the need to have a support vehicle to carry luggage and spare parts (and anyone who feels like a day off). However, there are some self guided tour optoins on some of the easier European routes if you're looking for a more independent alternative.
