Island-Hopping

Many regard the islands of the world as the domain of resort hotels with little to offer the adventurous traveller – but whilst a few are geared to the mainstream many are relatively untouched by mass tourism and have plenty to offer.

The Greek Islands are well established on the travel map and many have gone beyond the resorts to visit the outer islands of the Canaries. But the Azores and Cape Verde islands see few visitors despite having regular flights from Europe. Further afield and just as varied are the Windward Islands of the Caribbean, the Seychelles in the Indian Ocean and the lesser islands of Indonesia with a chance to see the Komodo Dragons. And the many island groups of the South Pacific are perfect island hopping material, perhaps best seen from a boat such as the Soren Larsen, a tall ship which spends most of the year sailing the South Seas.
