Gap Year Ideas
Gap breaks are no longer the exclusive preserve of the young and can be anything from a few weeks between jobs to a whole year - perhaps between school and University.
For some it's a chance to see the world - whilst others may want to focus on one country or continent and perhaps get involved in a community project. For those prepared to leave their home comforts behind, truck based overland expeditions across continents offer the chance to get off the beaten track and explore more remote destinations such as West Africa, Patagonia or the Tibetan plateau. Trips “around the world” are a popular option with multi stop itineraries costing as little as £1000. There are also options for voluntary work ranging from conservation projects in Southern Africa, teaching in Nepal, community development in India or building schools in Central America - with projects lasting between 1 to 24 weeks.
